Community Projects

"To Be Seen And Celebrated"

Solo exhibition of 130+ eye portrait commissions painted and exhibited at the Metropolitan, Charlotte. Proceeds went to benefit the Brookhill Vision Fund, a fund established to give the residents of Brookhill Village (one of Charlotte's oldest Historically Black and systemically under-resourced neighborhoods) eye exams and updated corrective lenses.

January - February 2020.

Condom Couture Fashion Show - 2018-2019
Helped to raise over $98,000 for Planned Parenthood Southeast by designing wearable fashions using over 2,000 of everyone's favorite prophylactic. Belongs in private collection.
Blessing Box Campaign - 2018
Using 20,000 public-submitted, handwritten acts of kindness, from which 10 selected artists created projects. Over two community days with students, we wove the acts of kindness into different forms. I made two wearable dresses inspired by the idea of "what would we look like if we wore the acts of kindness and the way we treated people?".

Happy Father’s Day to my dad who climbs lifts and buildings with me, figures out projectors and ladders with me, and believes in all my wild and crazy ideas! He’s my number one fan. I’m so lucky.

Thinking about all the symbology and iconography I use in my work. It’s layered and intentional. Thinking of the ancestors, mine and the land’s, the promises we keep, the promises we break, the unsaid things, the hope and fear that new generations bring, the candles that light the way and the way we are all woven together.
