Community Projects

"To Be Seen And Celebrated"

Solo exhibition of 130+ eye portrait commissions painted and exhibited at the Metropolitan, Charlotte. Proceeds went to benefit the Brookhill Vision Fund, a fund established to give the residents of Brookhill Village (one of Charlotte's oldest Historically Black and systemically under-resourced neighborhoods) eye exams and updated corrective lenses.

January - February 2020.

Condom Couture Fashion Show - 2018-2019
Helped to raise over $98,000 for Planned Parenthood Southeast by designing wearable fashions using over 2,000 of everyone's favorite prophylactic. Belongs in private collection.
Blessing Box Campaign - 2018
Using 20,000 public-submitted, handwritten acts of kindness, from which 10 selected artists created projects. Over two community days with students, we wove the acts of kindness into different forms. I made two wearable dresses inspired by the idea of "what would we look like if we wore the acts of kindness and the way we treated people?".

I couldn’t have done it without my team of helpers. Artists, stop trying to do it all. You’re not good at it. Hire help and focus on making your work. 🥰 so grateful to: @guardian_snark, our resident “artist enabler” who can build anything, @artbyangelaclousher who never backs down from a scary request, @derita.design for cutting these amazing acrylic pieces for me and of course my awesome creative assistant @brik.art who helps calm me down while painting every black canvas edge in sight.

It all leaves to be installed this weekend. Opening June 9th at TRAX gallery in Lake City with the gracious invitation and sponsorship of @artfieldssc.
Some close ups and favorite moments of my largest Some close ups and favorite moments of my largest canvas to date, 4 by 8 feet. This is “Keepers Of The Realm”, which is exactly what my friend Brianna is. A human reminder of the magic and ease within our reach. This painting and more will be heading down to my solo exhibition “Dreamscapes”, opening June 9th at TRAX Gallery in Lake City,
SC.
This favorite baby of mine is heading to be hung i This favorite baby of mine is heading to be hung in the Hilton Head Biennale which opens next week! My first 5 figure price tag on a painting 😱 😳 but its brethren created at that residency FLEW out to new homes and I miss those pieces. As a smart lady once told me, if your work is moving faster than you can create it, you need to raise your price! 🥰

To celebrate I’m releasing prints of this piece, at half scale, signed and hand gilded! 🔗 in 🅱️ℹ️🅾️
